Big B writes on his blog, "She sleeps through most of the day except for feeds and has been most obedient and well behaved! Ha ha ha... The moments spent with her even though one encounters shut eyes, are the most pleasant and fulfilling,"
The overjoyed grandpa has also dedicated a poem for Beti B, a name coined for the little one, which he published on his blog. The poem too was actually written by his father, the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan when Big B was born.
Big B blogs, "She is home! And nothing could give us all greater joy and happiness .. There is so much to say and so much emotion, but I think excerpts from my Fathers poem, written at the time I was born, say enough!"
It is none other than the latest talk of the town Vidya Balan who will be promoting her keenly anticipated film THE DIRTY PICTURE in the coming episode of KBC.
Looking red hot in a lovely red saree, Vidya made Big B groove to the sensational 'Ooh La La' track from the film, which has taken the nation by storm!
TODAY, Amitabh Bachchan turns 69 who born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad. He is the son of late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan did his schooling from Sherwood College, Nainital and later on pursued a degree in science from the Delhi University. His first job was in Shaw Wallace and later worked as a freight broker for a shipping firm called Bird and Co. But his destiny had something else to offer and it was the journey to stardom.
He made his debut in the film Saat Hindustani (1969) which was directed by K.A. Abbas. Film failed on the box-office but Amitabh was noticed by film makers like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Sunil Dutt. Hrishikesh Mukherji (whom Amitabh treat as his Godfather),gave him a role in his two films, Anand and Guddi. Anand was the third film, which became a hit and he got best supporting actor filmfare award. Amitabh was getting the roles but they were not significant. Finally he got a chance to work in "Zanjeer", role for which he was not the first choice. Film turned out to be super-hit. By then a new avatar had emerged on silver screen, an "Angry young man". But this was his one aspect.
He was a poet (Kabhi Kabhi), an decent professor (Kasme Vaade), a comedian (Chupke Chupke, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don), a dying lover (Mukaddar Ka Sikander). He did almost all kinds of roles. In 1973, after release of Zanjeer, Amitabh got married with Jaya Bhaduri. He became father at the time of release of Chupke Chupke. During the shooting of "Coolie" on 26th July 1982, he was injured and admitted to Breech Candy hospital. The whole nation prayed for his fast recovery and by the grace of God he was gifted with a new life. Mrs. Indira Gandhi, then P.M. of India, postponed her foreign trip and visited the hospital.
After recovery Amitabh returned on silver screen, with Sharabi and Giraftar like hit movies. In the original script of "Coolie" Iqbal (Amitabh) had to die but Teji Bachchan asked Manmohan Desai to change it for her personal reasons. The last scene where he stands in the balcony and thank the people, was the real scene, a way to thank the people of India, "Main to chala gaya tha, laut aaya hoon to bus aapki duaon se...." Amitabh also tried his hand in politics in 1984 after the death of Mrs. Gandhi. He defeated the then called Chankya of the Indian politics, Hemvanti Nandan Bahuguna. But some how things went wrong and he got trapped in the dirty game of politics of anti-Rajiv Gandhi. Although during this period his classics "Main Azad Hoon" and "Agneepath" were released, but Amitabh was getting older. Amitabh decided to take a break in 1992, Khuda Gawah was the last release.
He then launched ABCL which was a multi-faceted commercial enterprise. This was the major failure and he was surrounded by unthinkable debt. This is hard to imagine at that time how he survived but again he proved that he is not an ordinary man who live and die. With "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "Mohabattein" he redefined his position in Indian cinema. Amitabh emerged again as a winner and slapped the critics who declared him "finished". Even in this age roles are written for him. Every film maker is dreaming to cast him in his/her film. He was declared as Star of the Millenium by BBC poll, by Stardust and even at the survey for statue at Madam Tusad. These are not mere coincident! May God bless him.
If a KBC 2011 participant answers the thirteenth question right, he or she will carry home a cool Rs.5 crores home. The format of the show has been simplified with a 'Manchaha Padav' option. Participants will be able to pick their own 'padav' defending on their confidence levels. They will be subjected to a time limit to answer their questions till they reach the 'padav'. If they answer the questions correctly, they will be assured of taking away the winnings till that point. There will be no 'padav' or time limit thereon.
According to Sony Entertainment Television (SET) officials, they had received 45 lakh applications from 'aam aadami' from the hinterland of the Nation cutting across all caste, creed, sex, language, and regional barriers and their slogan 'koi insaan chota nahin hota' has had a terrific connect with the people. It is a logical extension of the previous theme 'koi sawal chota nahin hota'.
KBC 2011 begins on 15th August, 2011, in the 8.30-9.30 PM time band. This suits better the audiences in smaller towns and Kasbahs who are generally back home around this time. This also fits in well with the Channel's strategy to expand its viewership base and mass appeal while keeping in tune with the 'aam aadami' theme of the popular game show. The Channel is aiming to get into the top three bracket among all the GECs and hoping that Big B's charisma and the popular appeal of KBC 2011, and the other popular shows in the prime time band will help it garner better TVRs.
However, Charmi has no qualms about it as she is well aware about the fact that BBUDDAH is Big's film and will sell in his name. Says the realistic Charmi, "It was obvious to me that it is an Amitabh Bachchan film and will be promoted that way only. Moreover BBUDDAH is not a heroine oriented film so it was quite natural to lead that way. I can't be in a dream world."
fter working nearly for a decade in south, Charmi steps in Bollywood. One wonders what made Charmi to wait for so long or why she waited so long to enter Bollywood? Was she looking for a big break in Bollywood and also was Big B the reason behind signing BBUDDAH?
Charmi at once responds, "I did get few offers before BBUDDAH, in fact all big films with some reputed filmmakers from Bollywood, however nothing really worked. I always knew there's something in me and I am a Bollywood material so I'll get a good break sometime. And then BBUDDAH happened suddenly. Actually, Puri Jagannath, director of BBUDDAH, is a very good friend of mine and he offered me the role. And when you have Big B as co-star who will miss the chance?"
Talking about the late entrance in Bollywood, Charmi adds, "I have seen enough ups and downs in my decade long career and now I know my do's and don'ts well. In fact I think I am at the right age to start in Bollywood. If I do a mistake in Bollywood I might not get a chance again. But probably that mistake might not happen because I have gained enough maturity and experience work wise. Even Amitji told me 'Initially I thought you are a bit late but considering that you have 10 years of experience it's like paid school for you. And I think with this you will go places'. I am young and just 23 so this is a perfect moment for me to get in Bollywood."
Charmi is among those lucky few actors, who has had chance working with superstars. She has worked with all big stars from south and now even her debut in Hindi film industry is with the megastar, Amitabh Bachchan. However for Charmi it's no big deal as sustaining one's position is of much more importance.
"It's not a big deal to become big. The deal is to maintain being big. I have been really fortunate to get what I have got today but how far I sustain myself, is to be seen. By God's grace I have been maintaining to be there," says the level-headed Charmi.
Like others even Charmi is highly impressed with Big B's chaste Hindi. Says the pretty actress, "I would often take Shudh Hindi tips from him because he is really fantastic in that."
Amitabh Bachchan is looking uber-cool in his stylish avatar in Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and AB Corp's "BUDDAH-HOGA TERA BAAP" complete with scarves, jazzy shirts, designer denims, branded glares and even two watches!
Yes...two watches it is! And this was none other than Bachchan's personal touch to the styling of his character in the film.
Not many know that AB is very fond of wrist watches and is sometimes spotted wearing 2 at a time! So when he turned up wearing 2 watches on the first day of the BUDDAH shoot, he left everyone around amused by this unique style.
At that moment, director Puri Jagannadh came up with the idea of Bachchan sporting two watches throughout the movie considering his flamboyantly stylish character. Needless to say, Big B was more than happy to mix some of his own personal style with his on screen style and will be seen wearing two watches throughout the movie!
Going by Bachchan's larger than life persona, we think he is one of the few people who can carry such a quirky style with such elan!
BUDDAH will see AB return as the 'angry old man' in a role that the audiences have longing to see him in since ages! The movie hits theatres on 1st July.
Amitabh Bachchan cracked a pleasing tongue-in-cheek joke on south superstar Rajnikanth on his Twitter page. But this hasn’t gone down well with certain people.
Big B wrote: “Someone sent me this on mobile – “When Graham Bell discovered the telephone, he found two missed calls from Rajnikant !!” Brilliant.”
Soon, the superstar corrected the minor mistake and wrote: “Ok ! Graham Bell ‘invented’ the telephone … not ‘discovered’ as written earlier .. in Rajni joke .. !!! Apologies !!”
But the joke wasn’t well-received by fans in Twitter world, some of whom actually got quite angry. Big B then clarified, “Not making fun of him …praising his status and his greatness ..he is noble successful humble person , and revered like a God.”
Big B and Rajnikanth are close friends, of course, and have worked together in the past. Do you think Big B’s joke was in good humor or bad taste?
Bollywood’s most wanted celebrated actor couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan are finally back together on screen after almost a decade. It isn’t for a film but for a jewellery ad.
While Jaya was styled by her fave designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla for the shoot, AB Sr stepped out in an international fashion label. The ad is directed by Prakash Varma.
Amitabh was evidently too excited to perform alongside his better half. “Back on sets for Tanishq, the jewelry business of Tata’s..solo today..Jaya joins tomorrow..swift, orderly, efficient..joy!,” he posted on his Twitter page Monday. “Early call tomorrow! With Jaya in front of cameras after K3G..Been a while..!!,” AB added.
